Zones are concentrated in Imphal and each Zone is headed by a Superintendent of Taxes whose office is attached to the office of the Commissioner. The main function of each Zone is : -
• Issuing of statutory forms
• Keeping records of purchase and sales for dealers/firms
• Assessment of payable tax and recording and sending of demand notice
• Registration of new firms, collection of sales tax due and interest if any,
• Tax collection drive ( professiona l tax, entertainment tax, luxury tax etc.)
